Blanket Chest #1 – Ruth

Blanket chest

This was my first chest to build. At the time I did not have a reliable way of making mortise and tenon joinery nor floating panels so as you can tell this build is with pocket hole screws. This is simply a pine skeleton with fitted panels inside giving the appearance of floating panels. This chest was made for my wife’s grandmother Ruth. The project was started around Thanksgiving and was intended to be her Christmas present. Unfortunately, cancer took her from us shortly before Christmas so she was never able to receive the gift. My wife’s mother has it now. The skeleton is pine, plywood is pine, and lid is a “project panel” from Lowes. Finished with PolyShades.Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest Blanket chest
