I was in the process of designing a miter saw station when I stumbled upon John Heisz’s design from ibuildit.ca. His design solved more of my problems so I decided to give it a go. All panels are 1/4” ply and wrapped with dimensional pine. This keeps the weight down and also uses a lot of the scrap I had laying around. The hood drops the dust into a drawer. The bottom two doors fold out for blade storage. I am undecided on the extension wings. I will wait until they are needed to build them. I have a lot of other projects started that I need to finish first.
It works great at collecting the dust, I finally have a place to store saw blades, and I have a lot smaller footprint for the miter saw now. I did not spend a dime on this build. I had everything in the shop already. Great design John. I recorded the entire build.
