You may remember Chaz’s desk that I showed last week. He sent me another project which is his quick and easy bench design. After seeing it I had to share it. There’s just three pictures here but I believe it’s enough to get you going if you wanted to do the same thing. I also think the source of the bench back is great. Chaz writes:
I recently built this outdoor bench for my mother-in-law. I purchased 2 identical headboards at an auction for $2 and decided to incorporate one of them into the bench for the back.
Other than the selection of treated material, Lowe’s has a poor selection of outdoor lumber so the 4×4’s and 2×4’s are Birch, the seat and arm rests are Cedar.
I bought (2) 4×4 solar caps and a couple flower hangers to give it a little style. Thanks for looking.
Talk about an awesome looking bench. And so simple. The solar lights on the back posts are a great touch as well. It’s the little details like that that make a project stand out….in a good way! So what do you think?

Great bench and agree with you Jay on the solar lights being a great finishing touch. I love the idea of using a headboard piece for the back. Great job Chaz
This is great. I’m going out this weekend looking for bed headboards.
Good materials are everywhere! Just have to be ready when they are.
Bacanisimo, excelent!
