Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #194 – November 25, 2017

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Measured Workshop

A creative use of materials. This looks like an inexpensive way to try your hand at blacksmithing. I’ll add it to my ever-growing list of things to do.

Another one from Measured Workshop Making a USB outlet lamp. Interesting choice of materials and it really makes me want to make something with those hinges. Great thinking for the stopped dado for the bent arm attachment. Very interesting design. This video deserves a ton more views than what it currently has.

The Small Workshop

Right after that last video I found this one. Chisel knives seem like a very handy tool to have around.

Dustin Penner

The number one comment on this video: “I find it hilarious that you take a round log. Make it square. Then make it round again… (yes, everyone else, I understand grain direction, blah blah, still find it funny.)”

Do you remember the knife from Northmen Guild that was in last weeks ISFATW? Here’s a little more information on it. (click the image)

Malcolm Tibbetts

Seeing these just hurts my brain. There’s just so much going on. These pieces are incredible.

Frog Leap Studios

Not woodworking at all. Just one of my favorite covers of all time. I’m probably responsible for a couple thousand views since this video came out. This one and Metallica Turn The Page are probably the two best cover songs where the cover is better than the original. That’s saying something considering who the original singers of Turn The Page and Hello are. Do you have any favorite cover songs?

  1. That Version of Hello was pretty cool, but Bob Segar’s version of Turn the Page is far superior to Metallica’s.
My favorite cover is Johnny Cash’s take on Nine Inch Nail’s song Hurt. Or maybe his take on Soundgardens Rusty Cage.

  2. Another cover version worth many a listen is The White Stripes’ version of Dolly Parton’s Jolene. Simply wonderful
