Chest of Drawers, Computer Desk, Dry Erase Board

Dresser desk dry erase board

I built this dresser for my wife (girlfriend at the time). We were looking to buy one but didn’t want to buy any cheap China dressers so we decided to build a cheap pine dresser. This was my first take at making solid panels. I glued and pocket hole screwed 3 pieces of pine to make the sides and top. I remember rushing to get this project done and did not take the time to properly flatten my glued panels. Once again this was a good “don’t do it this way” learning experiences to look back on. I wanted a darker stain to match her current furniture so I used a Minwax Red Mahogany. This was also a “don’t stain pine this way you idiot” learning experience. Obviously cheap yellow pine does not like dark stains and is crazy blotchy. I did not know it at the time. I ended up coating the finish on incredibly thick and letting the blistering Mississippi summer sun dry the finish. Same thing with a poly top coat. Honestly it was a horrible way to finish the project but it turned out a lot better than expected. The finish still looks great today but the sides have developed some warping. I used the same batch of wood to make a computer desk. Same thing with the stain. The desk was built to size to match a piece of former table glass. I also made a matching dry erase board. Simple picture frame with a routed shelf for markers. I took apart a Wal-Mart dry erase board for the parts.Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board Dresser desk dry erase board

  1. Aloha Jay. Do you have a tutorial video for this dresser? I couldn’t find it on YouTube or here. Thanks.
