SketchUp: 4″ PVC Dust Collection Blast Gates

My primary use of SketchUp is to help design and visualize a project before I even make the first bit of sawdust. However, in this case I really didn’t need SketchUp to make any preliminary designs. I’m basing this video off of a previous blast gate design that I have used for a couple years now. It’s a simple and effective design.

In this video I’ll show you how to make a blast gate for use with 4” PVC pipe. The blast gate itself will be made from 3/8” plywood and some scrap wood for a handle. The connections will be made from 4” PVC pipe and a 4” PVC coupling. The coupling side will only be half of a coupling though. More on that in the build video later. Until then, you can watch this video and see just how easy they are to make.

  2. thanks for these videos. would really love to see you add dimensions and break the drawings apart for printing. that’s a really important step in order to take the drawings to the workshop to be built… thanks again!
