  1. Really, I understand you Jay, all time give your job represent a lot of hour of work, same evrybody, you need win money , it is normal !!! Yannick from Thaïland

  2. Good decision on paid plans! I’ll be happy to buy your plans. You should get paid for your expertise. I’m a believer that It takes 10,000 hours to get really good at something, and you’ve obviously spent that much time and more. The decent folks recognize that and don’t mind paying for your experience.

  3. My iPad can’t download the plans. Apparently Safari is very limited. I bought the router lift plans, but they are stuck in cyberspace until a computer becomes available.. Bummer

    • I don’t have any router lift plans so I think you are referring to John’s. Contact him about it. Those plans should open up on a Mac. It’s just a zip file containing a PDF. I’m sure he will work with you on it.

    • You should be able to send it to DropBox and from within the app, open it there. With a DropBox account, of course. Google Drive works well, also.

  4. Makes senses to me Jay. Sell your plans and get a reward for your labor. I would purchase them. Remember; If it is free, then it is worth what one pays for it. . . .

  5. Jay, the Lions are the only team in the NFL that can have a highlight reel and a blooper reel in the same game. I live in Michigan and I’m also a Lions fan. Totally understand your need to offer paid plans. I enjoy that woodworkers on YouTube offer free plans. However, you are running a business and you can’t give away the store. I am looking forward to your upcomming projects. I have a need for a work bench as well as a mitersaw station. I wish you continued success with your new business.

    • Thanks Steve. I appreciate that. So true with the Lions. They always win the close games against tough opponents and get blown out in games they should dominate.

  6. Do your workbench plans BOTH WAYS…I’ll buys those plans & the miter saw/pocket hole stand plans…you might want to have a series of standard prices for packages of plans… (such as->$75.00 for ten plans of the buyers choice…or $100 for 10 plans + 1 hour of your e-mail coaching..).

Pricing is a very tricky issue (I have taught both under-grad & graduate courses on pricing and it is a very delicate-yet critical issue).

But I for one would be happy to pay for your plans. I’d like to see the workbench built both ways (with the plywood storage bas & with the traditional frame) and you can raffle-off one and keep the other…same with the mite-saw station/pocket hole machine.

BTW I have a bunch of your T-shirts and they always get great feedback (an 80 year-old man at Costco LOVED the Screw-It T and a 30 year old male nurse loved the Check out my Stool).

Keep-up the great work and GOOD LUCK!

  7. we have a saying in Romania “only the rain comes for free”
being that said … if we have to pay for a detailed plan … why not !!!

    keep up Jay

  8. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER. I WOULDN’T HESITATE TO BUY A PLAN YOU HAVE TO SELL. I AM SICK & TIRED OF 10,000 FREE PLANS, OR HOW ABOUT 100. OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO PAY A LARGE SUM OF MONEY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK & GOOD LUCK.
YOU HAVE WORKED HARD & DESERVE A BREAK.

  9. Jay, a popular route if you are producing a lot of content is to offer a membership to exclusive plans, content, and videos. Best part is that it’s residual income and more steady. It’s easy to run your business when you have steady income.

  10. Can’t wait to see the miter saw station plan. My next build. Looking at many plans but will wait on yours Jay. Love your site

  11. Just found your site and channel… love your content and was surprised you weren’t already charging for plans. Needless to say I downloaded all those I hope to use. I’d definitely be willing to pay money for your hard work and bright ideas! Keep the good stuff coming!
