Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #82 – May 30, 2015

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Lately I’ve had an obsession with analyzing other people’s shop spaces. It’s very interesting to see how we all value priorities in our shops differently and how we set ours up. Check out this super awesome shop tour from Chris. (click the image)

I recently stumbled upon this guys channel. Someone who seems to have been in the woodworking business for quite a while now. I’ve picked up a lot of simple tricks and techniques just from watching him work in his videos. This is part one of a new build he’s working on. If you like it click through to his channel and watch part 2. Good stuff and I’m patiently waiting on part three.

Make

Jimmy Diresta, Bob Clagget, and David Picciuto have a weekly podcast called MakingIt and recently they were all together in person at a recent Maker Faire and had a live discussion on the topic of Epic Fails. Here it is:

Shop built

This guy is full of great ideas. Here’s his recent. A heat gun edge bander. This just makes so much sense.

Marius Hornberger

This kid is smart. Really smart. Plus he makes good videos :)

Get Hands Dirty

I need to make another one of these for my bandsaw. Never thought about using Plexiglas though.

Paul Jenkins

Such a beautiful straight line table. Very well done.

Grady Hillhouse

I can picture myself wasting a lot of time messing with a little game like this.

Jon Peters Art & Home

Jon shows a super easy way to get a beautiful finish. I used to use shellac a lot. It really is one of those finishes that is hard to mess up.

Ronald Walters

Something else I enjoy is mechanical movements of any kind. Ron just built a pretty nifty one.

Jer’s Shop

This is one of the best thought out router table fences I’ve seen. And the video hits all of the details too.

  1. I love the router fence, and now I’m gonna have to go watch the table saw fence video, because I need a new one of those too! Great share, Jay! Thanks. Dave
