Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #97 – September 12, 2015

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Holy Grail Of Jigs

This is a HUGE collection of jigs for the workshop. You definitely need to click the image and browse through the massive list of jigs. (click the image)

hertoolbelt.com

Simple construction with great results. Looks like a great gift as Christmas will be here before you know it…. Yes, I said Christmas. (click the image)

Rockler.com

I was looking at tenon jigs earlier this week and stumbled upon this old article from 2009. Looks like a pretty simple adjustable tenon jig that you could knock out pretty quickly. The walk-through can be seen by clicking on the image here and the parts list can be seen by clicking HERE. (click the image)

Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers

Top of the line here folks. Nothing like a chest of drawers made from solid tiger maple.

Carl Holmgren

Relatively simple design for retractable casters. He’s got several of his tools on these homemade bases. Very well designed.

Jackman Carpentry

Great video on a simple homemade sign that looks fantastic. His videos are always very well done.

Stone and Sons Workshop

My friend Shane got a chance to head out to the Carmichael Workshop and hang out with Steve for a bit.

Dema’s Woodshop

Dema shows a really inexpensive way to add a LOT of clamping power to his workbench.

Alain vaillancourt

Alain’s shop build continues. He had quite a few trials and tribulations along the way with this one but he worked through them and now has a very nice looking garage door.

TheGeekPub

There’s something special about playing a game at an actual arcade machine. Much more enjoyable experience than playing modern console games.

  1. this is the best so far. been looking for a jewelry case for my girlfriend. thanks for your professional attitude and information.

  2. WOW, Serge at l’Atelier du Bricoleur has quite the amazing collection of jigs and toptips !
And Carl Holmgren is indeed a true gentleman DIYer with elegant designs and unabatable enthusiasm for building stuff.
Thanks for sharing, Jay, and keep on trucking !

  3. By far my favorite was the video of the hundreds(okay maybe not hundreds)on jigs. That man is a genius! I only wish there were plans for each jig. Dema’s leg vise came out beautifully and I think I’ll be making that this winter. I saved some time consuming projects for the winter, like my wood Plane restorations. They are fun and takes my mind off of press matters for a few hours.
