Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.
hemmings
Almost free garage heat. If you’ve got an all-day sunny area next to your garage this is a great option for getting some solar heat this winter. The concept has been around for a while and can be modified very easily to fit your situation. (click the image)
RunnerDuck.com
This looks to be a pretty easy project that I’d love to complete this fall. Maybe I’ll find some suitable lumber to get it done. Great step by step walk-through with pictures. (click the image)
Majid Champion
Majid is a custom furniture maker in the UK that produces some AMAZING carved pieces. The video quality and production aren’t great but he makes up for it in the beauty of the piece.
While I was at it I looked through most of his content and found a similar coffee table he built. I cant imagine how much time went into carving these pieces.
TehDoor
I really like seeing alternate aproaches to the same jig. Here’s the TehDoor approach to a box joint jig for the router.
Jon Peters Art & Home
Jon always has good advice. This is a short video talking briefly about selecting lumber. The final look of your project is often determined mostly by the time you take selecting lumber before you begin.
Pleasant Ranch
This is a somewhat simple coffee table but I really like the way he incorporated the drawer.
CaseyNeistat
I often get asked for advice on making YouTube videos and what gear to get. Here’s probably the best advice for anyone looking to make videos on YouTube.
Matt Cremona
Here’s an older video from Matt on marking tools. In my recent wedding gift box project I made a hand cut dovetail tray for the inside. On that tray I used a block of wood and a chisel edge for a marking knife which was a little awkward. After a web search I stumbled on this video which I’ve previously seen. If you’re wanting a marking knife check out this video first. He shows two size knives, which one he prefers, and why.
Hi Jay,
I really enjoy these posts. The variety of topics is great. I look forward to these every week.
