Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #107 – November 28, 2015

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Have you ever made a table as square as you could possibly make it only to find out that it wobbles on a flat floor? This tip might be of use to you. (click the image)

Another video of some beautiful Asian woodworking.

I’ve never seen this method of keeping a leg vise parallel.

Jack Houweling

This is a clevar way of hiding stuff. Assuming you have a book you don’t want anymore.

Wood and Shop

This isn’t a free plan for a workbench but I do like it. And the fact that it breaks down is pretty neat.

Here’s a great video showing a bunch of different ways to hold material to a workbench without a vise.

Looking for an efficient way to sharpen card scrapers?

B-E-A-Utiful. The claw feet carved in this piece are absolutely stunning.

No audio and the video is a bit long. But watching it on 2x speed wasn’t bad. I really like the end result of this bench. Very creative.

Anthony Zeh

Here’s a nifty slot mortise machine. Doesn’t look that difficult to make either.

Bellevue Woodshop

I always enjoy new videos from this channel. Not only is this a great re-purpose of materials but it’s also a fantastic looking, big and bold table.

Lane Bros Woodshop

Biscuits, dominos, and pocket holes all in this project :)

Paul Jenkins

This is such a peaceful video. Sounds of a workshop.

  1. Jay, I have the DVD for the Moravian work bench and will be building it sometime this next year. I like it for it’s size and that you can break it down and store it when not in use. It takes less than 60 seconds to put it together…once you have the pieces laid out. The other thing I like is that you can add options with regards to different vises or other features – I’ll be adding a sliding deadman. I’ll also build a second solid top to use in place of the tool well for when I want a larger work surface. Now, you can always take the class at the Woodright’s School and build it with hand tools…..I can’t take a week off and the cost is a lot more than the DVD. I’ve taken other classes and they are well worth it but i only live 2 hours away and my inlaws live about 5 minutes away. Good luck with your search for the bench you will build. Scott
