Vlog #71: About that dartboard cabinet…

Video Notes:

  • Happy Tuesday to ya.
  • I pretty much don’t post mid week updates or pictures to any of the social media networks other than Instagram. It’s just so quick and easy and more fun to post on Instagram. Follow @jaybates86 on Instagram.    <– that’s me
  • I’ve got shirts for sale finally. Check them out here.
  • The dartboard has gotten a LOT of use. I’m happy about that.
  • Anyone who visits my shop needs to sign the dartboard cabinet. I want it to be a community signature collage similar to the sticker cabinets :) It will be a lot of fun watching it evolve.
  • Check out videowoodworkers.com for a list of all the content creators who will be attending The Woodworking Show in Atlanta the first weekend in April.
    • I believe we are having an after show dinner somewhere on that Saturday night after the show for anyone who wants to come hang out and eat corn on the cob and tell bad jokes and all that good stuff.
  • Keep it real homies.

  1. I just sent out my order for stickers, and am planning to do a swap with others #stickerswap. I have a large door on the front of my shop that I plan to use for sharing everyone else’s stickers on. I’ve ordered my first batch, so anyone who wants to swap, send yours to:

I think that dart thingy is called the flight/flite :)

  2. , I ENJOY YOUR PODCASTS, THEY ARE VERY INTERESTING .I HAVE LEARNED A LOT.
I NEVER KNEW THERE WERE A LOT OF OTHER WOODWORKERS WITH WEBSITES UNTIL I FOUND YOURS JUST BY ACCIDENT.
I’LL BE 80 IN JULY AND ITS TOO COLD TO GO OUT IN MY LITTLE SHOP THIS TIME OF YEAR HERE IN NEW ENGLAND, SO I PLAY AROUND IN THE HOUSE ON THE PC.
SINCE I STARTED WATCHING YOU ,AND NICK FERRY I HAVE AMASSED A LIST OF ABOUT 30 OR 35 WOODWORKING WEBSITES AND FIND THAT I ENJOY WATCHING (AND LEARNING) MORE WOODWORKING THAN I EVER THOUGHT I WOULD.
    KEEP ‘EM COMMING !

  3. I like the idea of having visitors sign your dartboard cabinet, it brings a sense of involvement for folks and will also help you create memories. I really like the involvement and networking among you DIYers.

  4. Hi Jay!

I’m with the others, enjoying your videos and your presentation style!

While watching the You Tube video’s from both you and other woodworkers I find it interesting that often get mentioned that the material is a left over piece from another projects. As a matter of fact, it is always get mentioned!
In the other hand, such as the great looking miter saw station, it is not mentioned that I’ve just dropped about $800 on plywood or several hundred dollars on drawer slides.

Keep up the good work, it is inspirational to many!

  5. Note: This has nothing to do with woodworking. This is in regards to your Podcast info at the bottom of your emails…This is what it currently says:

Nick Ferry, April Wilkerson, and my self have started a podcast! Be sure to subscribe on iTunes, Android, or via RSS. All the subscribe links are on thewoodworkingpodcast.com. Just click the image above to check it out and subscribe!

Since you wouldn’t say…”my self has started a podcast!…” when only referring to yourself, you still shouldn’t says Nick Ferry, April Wilkerson, and myself have started a podcast!…”

You would say…”I have started a podcast!…” so no matter how many other people are included in your statement, it still should read “I”

Do with this what you will…no disrespect, just thinking about Nick’s comments about someone that made a correction for him. Keep up the good work, ME likes it….! :)

  6. Interesting to read John Morrison comments.
What a coincidence. I am 80+ I enjoy reading all your podcasts also. I have just started compiling a list of my favorite sites, including you , Matthias Wandel etc. Thanks to all of you for keeping us ” retired” persons engaged. I have started building my Workbench but modifying it to look like a ROUBO Bench. I am also using several views of your videos to design my Workshop!
Hi John , How about a group for Octogenarians scattered round the Globe! I am in Nigeria.

  7. Hey Jay, I’m the guy who did a video about my grandkids toy boxes with their names routered on the front… Just wanted to leave a note to say that I really enjoyed the videos of you and Nick Ferry. You guys seemed to really have fun together. After seeing your videos, I started following his videos too. Keep up the good work! Thx, Denny
