Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #116 – February 6, 2016

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Ronald Walters

Ronald always does a great job explaining stuff. In this video he shows a custom shop air filter.

Rob Cosman

If you follow me on instagram you know that I’ve been getting into hand cut joinery lately as a means of relaxing and taking a break from computer work. This video shows a pretty interesting way to cut dovetails that seems to work really well. I tried it and had great results minus one cut being misplaced. Definitely a technique that I want to spend some more time on.

The Samauri Carpenter

Just the Samauri doing what he does.

Mario Cappellano

Angled box joints. Pretty interesting.

Jorge Araujo

I’ve seen Paul Sellers talk about and demonstrate his oil can a few times but never thought about making one. After seeing Jorge make one I went to the shop and made one of my own and I like how convenient it is. If your shop is in a humid climate like mine is this little gem might be for you. It’s so easy to get a really thin coating of oil on hand tools to prevent rust.

Fast Easy Smart Tool

Kriss always has clever ideas. And I really like how well explained his videos are.

Sandra Powell aka {Sawdust Girl}

Sandra is constantly improving her house. This is a really neat way to make an accent wall and give it a lot of character. I like it :)

Tips from a Shipwright

I could listen to this guy talk all day. I have very little knowledge of boats but I’m always sucked in by his videos.

Ron Paulk

An absolutely great message. It’s unfortunate that I could only provide one thumbs up for this video. Get organized my friends :)

Wood and Shop

Joshua is making quite a bit of progress on his dream shop. Man is it going to look great!

RESTORATIONRIVAWORLD

Massive undertakings like this complete restoration crammed into a 20 minute video do no justice for the amount of work that was required for the restoration. Talk about a big project. I would also love to hear this boat fly by.

The Samauri Carpenter

Another one from the Samauri. The little details add up.

Steve Opseth

This is definitely interesting. A down burst chip separator.

Tyler G

After having the same Harbor Freight dust collector and then upgrading to a cyclone unit myself I highly recommend anyone with the Harbor Freight unit to do something like this. I like how tidy he has the new setup.

Woodworking Masterclass

A pretty nifty tip. Quick and easy.

  1. Ron Paulk’s message really resonates with me! Even in IT, “if you don’t have the time to get organized, you’re a prime candidate to get organized”, makes a ton of sense. The people I work with who tell me they don’t have time to develop automation for their tasks are the ones who would most benefit from that automation!

  2. Got a crazy tip for quail lovers. I build cages and have several new ideas that I use to keeping the cage clean.
This one for the hectic of keeping the cross boards clean from quail droppings on the bottom of the cage. The cross boards should be painted with a good paint, several coats, then after before putting the birds in the cage, spray with a vegetable, stick free spray.
It won’t hurt the birds and makes cleaning the dropping easier to remove.
