Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #124 – April 9, 2016

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

The ShavingWood Workshop

A quick and easy jig for raised panels on the table saw. Could also be used for tenons.

April Wilkerson

Here’s a handy hardware storage solution from April. The french cleat hardware bins look pretty convenient.

Frank Howarth

Frank’s videos are always top-notch. I love how he builds his own audio instead of using the in camera audio at times.

Guenter Mik

A German (I think) video showing close up planing in different situations. This might give a better understanding of why you see tearout sometimes when using a plane.

Norner Houtbewerking

A 630 pound 13+ foot long bench for the entrance hall of an apartment complex. This is one huge bench and the finished product looks great.

Shop built

This might be a good solution for smaller tool dust collection. His blast gates are great.

Wood By Wright

A great video showing the process of making a beautiful smoothing plane by hand. Very beautiful plane.

WoodWorkWeb

I always recommend getting a planer before a jointer. A jointer cannot be used as a planer but a planer can be used as a jointer. Here’s how.

Saw Dust Maker

A hardware shop helper. This concept is good for anyone with a scrap hardware bin.

Graham Haydon

Graham is starting a series showing how to make his workbench out of basic hand tools. Here’s part 1.

  1. these are neat ideas, but the screws and other hardware I keep in a separate container by size, so I really don’t have a junk can, good idea though. By the way, Jay’s emails and website, are among my flavorite’s. He really comes up with good ideas, I do wish he would have more outdoor items like patio furniture, garden carts and like items, as this is what I like to build.
