Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #129 – May 14, 2016

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Giuseppe Penone creates some interesting artwork. Check out as he carves away the outer layers of a tree to reveal the smaller skeleton of a tree that once was there. (click the image)

I Build It

Good audio really helps a video. You don’t need a super expensive microphone to get it though. Here’s a great A – B test between an inexpensive homemade microphone and a high-end purchased microphone.

FineWoodworking

I love this Masters of the Craft series by Fine Woodworking. It’s always an enjoyable conversation. Here’s Jere Osgood.

Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers

Nothing but the best from Doucette and Wolfe. This time making a beautiful set of candlestand tables.

I also stumbled on an older video of theirs showing a set of walnut dining chairs.

Matt Lane

Matt has a one car garage shop. If you’re in a similar situation like him where space is limited you might pick up on a few ideas from his recent shop tour.

Make Crazydays

Lathe tool sharpening jigs aren’t exactly cheap. Here’s a less expensive DIY approach.

Stuart King

No electricity, no problem. Lathe turning powered by the hand and cut with the feet! An interestingly simple bow lathe and one really cordonated dude.

DIY Creators

A relatively simple desk that turned out great.

Mark Susak

Another homemade table saw build. This is part 1:

krtwood

This is a LOT of cutting and drilling. I like how the assembly allows the shape to flow and change. That’s not something that often happens with woodworking projects. .

Magnets and Marbles

Definitely an interesting video with magnets and marbles.

I’ve been busy with my own stuff around here and honestly I haven’t been looking at your emails lately, but I did this week and I enjoyed the videos. Rest assured though, I have all your emails stored in my “Jay Bates” folder for future referencing.

    Have a great day,

    Vic

  4. Great line up Jay! That vase build was awesome, the things you bring to the table definitely inspire and let the viewers know that anything is absolutely possible.
