Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #155 – December 17, 2016

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Eric Greaves

It’s always nice when you can get the younger generation involved. Great video and project. Good job, Eric.

Icfgroup

An interesting process for a spiral wooden leg.

woodmagazine.com

Outfit a shop in under a year by earmarking money each paycheck. This is a great process. Wood magazine walks you through each paycheck to assemble a shop. I wish they had an easier way to navigate through each week but near the bottom of the page is a list of previous pages containing the lower number paychecks. (click the image)

Timber Tricks

A hand plane shaped like a sports car. Now that’s pretty clever.

Boston University

Woah. I could stare at these sculptures all day.

David C.Roy

Another sculpture from David. This time on his channel though.

Joshua Luther

I love how excited Joshua’s son gets when he sees the completed bed. That’s what it’s all about :)

Woodworkers Journal

I haven’t thrown away any grocery bags since watching this.

CHEP 3D Printing

3d printing is getting increasingly popular. It’s good to see these being incorporated with woodworking tools.

The Grain Doctor

I was waiting for the punch line for way too long on this one….

DownUnderWoodWorks

Make a mortise jig for your router!

The Game Theorists

YouTube is constantly changing. Here’s a video covering the recent uproar from a lot of the larger channels.

  1. Jay, I really like this channel. Hope you don’t put anymore clips like the last one today ‘The Game Theorists’. I know, if I don’t like it, I don’t need to watch it. This is a woodworking channel, which, I think you created it to be. I hope, it continues to be a woodworking channel. You have done a wonderful job in bringing all of your knowledge and other woodworkers to the front. I do not have a website or a You Tube Channel.

Thanks, for the info every week.

  2. The only thing that reach out to me in the plane making video is the guy reaching over the turning saw blade that looked like it was up about 21/2″ above the table. That did not look safe.

  3. Thanks Jay for featuring my hand plane video. It was an enjoyable build, though it took much longer than I was expecting. To make a functional laminated plane would have taken me about 90-120minutes total. Then add another 10-12 hours shaping the thing into a car. But I think I will make another one sometime in 2017 because it functions so well :D
