Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #177 – May 27, 2017

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

This isn’t woodworking but I couldn’t help but smile during the entire video. I hope I’ll have the outlook and personality of Sean D Tucker if I’m still making a living doing what I love after 40 years.

  1. Neat finds as always, Jay.
Marc’s comments on how knowledge is passed around through books, videos, etc. is very wise indeed.

We’re now a few generations beyond the industrial revolution, and in the midst of the technological revolution, and it’s been 400+ years since the Gutenberg printing press was developed; therefore, it stands to reason that the vast majority (99.9%) of woodworking knowledge comes from past generations. Hence why books are still awesome and convenient, and YouTube is awesome and convenient, but in their own respects and limited ways.
That being said, until I order Marc’s book, Paul Seller’s books, and a few others, I’ll probably check out your channel on a daily basis. lol

    Keep spreading the knowledge Bro.

  2. I’m pretty sure people cannot understand the artistry, craftsmanship and techniques of the likes of Sam Maloof, George Nakashima and Tage Frid by watching Youtube or other media. The further society gets from printed matter and instead relies on ‘snippets’ of electronic media, the less people grasp, understand and appreciate real craftsmanship. JMO.

  3. As always Jay, another great selection of materials and composition. Opened my eyes to some new subscribers. Thanks for another wonderful week of enjoyable selections from you.
