Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #187 – September 9, 2017

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Third Coast Craftsman

Have you ever cut a mortise and tenon joint? What about a through mortise and tenon joint? When making a through mortise and tenon it’s not much extra work to make it a wedged joint. This will really lock the joint in place.

Jake Thompson

A perfect project for a man cave. It’s going to be interesting to see how bad the blue and silver team did at the end of the year :(

Lie-Nielsen Toolworks

Hand made awesomeness. This is a great look at how the Auriou Toolworks rasps are made. A lot of man hours and tedious work goes into each one! The media blasting near the end is an interesting shot.

Another one from Lie_Nielsen. This time a product of their own. A shoot(ing) board plane.

You’ve probably seen a lot of floating shelves by now. Adding a curve to this one adds just the right amount of cosmetic appeal. This has such a great “clean” look to it.

Make Something

Maybe I’ve been watching too much Game of Thrones because, to me, this clearly looks like two dragons facing off. But that’s the beauty of art pieces like this, right? It’s not a concrete item that simply is what it is. This is something that is completely open for interpretation and allows a lot of room for your imagination to ultimately determine what it is. A dresser will always be a dresser. But this thing can be a heart on Monday, dragons on Thursday, and paint splatter on Saturday. Well done dude. Well done.

Highland Woodworking

A wood body plane is something I’ve always wanted to make but never got around to doing. I’ve seen a few of Scott’s planes in person and they are really nice. This is also a great conversation about wood body planes.

Patrick Ashley

This is an old trick so you may already know it. But if by chance you don’t it’s always fun to show kids or maybe win a beer or two ;)

Bill Cortez

Here’s a great video covering a common 4″ PVC shop dust collection setup. The video is very well done as well.

John Still

John sent me a link to his miter saw station and while it is based upon my plans I really love seeing custom versions from other people. I thought my Red Wings drawer pulls were unique. Every pull on this thing is unique! very creative and well done.

As if flying a plane wasn’t difficult enough. Try landing one in about 10 feet! This is incredible!
