Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #209 – June 23, 2018

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

StraightFlushSaw

Circular saws are relatively basic tools. Not many major improvements over the years. This one looks interesting though. Not for my line of work but definitely for a carpenter.

Essential Craftsman

A shop tour of a blacksmith’s shop. It’s always good to see shop tours from established craftsman. Lots of little things that can be learned. They always have shelving units packed full of goodies as well :)

CrazyRussianWoodShop

Almost all vises will rack to some degree. This is a simple shop made jig that will prevent racking when using one side of a vise. If you don’t want to make your own I think Lee Valley has one that is relatively inexpensive.

Get Hands Dirty

When it comes to traditional style vs modern style I typically gravitate toward the traditional side. However, this modern wall lamp pulled me in immediately at first glance. It’s both simple and complex. Very interesting.

Modustrial Maker

Everyone reading this likes woodworking….I’m assuming that’s why you’re here anyway…but we all express our interest in woodworking differently. I really like when people take their passions or hobbies outside of woodworking and bring them into the woodworking world. Great project and a great personal theme.

Fix This Build That

Brad put together a great comprehensive video showing how to make a variety of custom drawer pulls. Definitely a money-saving video and definitely one to bookmark for future reference.

  1. Jay, just noticed the shout out. Thanks much! That is my personal favorite video and project I’ve done. Didn’t play as well as others on YouTube, but sometimes you gotta do a passion project :)
