Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #232 – January 12, 2019

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Spalted wood is one of nature’s miracles that can add character to a lot of projects. Shawn explains how he was able to get a log to spalt and he reveals the results in this quick video.

And another video where they get to rougher water.

Blair’s channel is a wealth of information on trees. Soooooo much information. In this video he shares a piece of advice for a young guy. A great conversation.

TAP Plastics

I had some ideas for using acrylic and wanted to see how difficult it was to “weld” or glue. I don’t have much experience working with it and was surprised to see how easy it is to assemble. You might find this old video interesting.

Robin Lewis

I’ve always been drawn to the look of white panels accented by clear wood. I like the size of this unit. No need to go crazy large with a media console in my opinion. I also like his discussion on how his 6 month old daughter played a roll in the design elements.

  1. I’ve played quite a bit with both Lexan and Plexiglass, and TapPlastics.com is a wonderful source of both products and information. My first project was a home/shop built CNC machine that used these products for both the gantry ends, as well as a water bath to engrave mirrors. Couldn’t have asked for a prettier project.

  2. Thanks for including the Jonathan Katz-Moses video. He did such a great job announcing the news and I’m happy for him and his family.
