SketchUp: Sofa Table Bench

In this video I show how the design evolution of a quick sofa table bench. This bench will be used inside for quick laptop use at a sofa table I made a couple years ago. It’s also a design experiment rather than simply making the bench look identical to the table.

  1. The old carpenters motto, ‘measure twice, cut once’. SketchUp is more ‘measure 1000 times, cut once’, (in theory, oops)

  3. HI Jay, you’re right, this “fast” method is pretty effective. have you used the site cutlistoptimizer.com to make a cutlist? I really like it.

    I think I might have used dowels instead of screws to preserve the clean look of the top; or perhaps screws from the underside.
