A Productive Day: Cord cover, lazy suzan, bit storage tray

A productive day of knocking a few things off the to-do list. Starting with a simple cord cover. Then a super cheap lazy suzan setup for spraying finishes, and finally a proper bit storage tray for the router table. No article on this one. Too busy keeping sanity making Christmas gifts lately… Talk to you in the next one.

  1. Jay,

Be thankful it’s Sesame Street, at least your daughter is learning. My kids were all little when Teletubbies was on. I still haven’t recovered the brain cells from that show.

  2. Hmmm now I have to wonder cause I just got the Rockler hose system for the small power tools and I got it with the retractable hose.

    • No, the links are for the 4″ hoses and connections that I’ve been using for a few years now. I don’t like to recommend products immediately after getting them so I didn’t include that on on the list. I like to wait a bit to make sure it’s good.

  3. Glad to see you put things off too. Now I can tell the wife that Jay procrastinates and she may leave me alone. Even though I don’t like pulp, I 100% support the theory that the shopper is the chooser, That’s the way I get cookies! Great video Jay…rock on.

  4. Trying to learn Fusion 360, I drew up adapters for all the small dust making tools so they’d all fit either the 2″ vacuum cleaner hose, or else the standard flex hoses on my central dust collection system. Then I 3d printed them. Solved the problem without spending much money.

  5. Just wondering , your dust box on the router table , is that attached to a collection system or do you have clean it out regularly thanks and love the videos

  6. I enjoy watching updates like this: combination of direct explanation and action with voice-over. Nice work as always. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Enjoyed your video – as usual – gave me a few ideas. Pocket dump tray Christmas gifts. I am new to CNC and learning. The cup (pocket) sections, assume you just use pocket tool path. How do you get the rounded tops, do you do that separate with router, not sure how to put the finishing touch after material pocketed out. i understand you are busy and may no have time to answer how, but thought it was worth asking. Keep up the good work.

  8. I wonder if you could use that storm shelter beside your place for a spraying area? It could dry and not smell up the main shop.

  9. The trays you showed with the names seem to be really close to a phone holder / stand that I’m making (as gifts?)(for fun), but they are on the hypotenuse side of a 30 60 right triangle. I’m having a devil of a time routing out the inset part, and was wondering if you have any ways to accomplish the way you made your trays with a handheld router or router table, I don’t have a CNC machine. Productive day in the shop!
