When CNC machines and 3d printers first started to become mainstream for the home shop so many people questioned their need. Most wrote them off as gadgets for people wo just want something to play with. Here’s a great example of the usefulness of a 3d printer.

I love how boats and tubs like this demonstrate how well wood can create a water tight seal on its own. Just a reasonably flat joint and water to make it water tight. Would you prefer a wood hot tub like this or a modern tub built for comfort?

From a single large bucket to sit in to mass manufacturing large barrels. I find it interesting to watch various manufacturing processes and see simple tools used for specific tasks. For example, the aluminum (I think) hooks used when adding the lids from the inside out.

Thanks Jay! I loved watching the 1930’s logging film. Pretty impressive that they were that technologically advanced back then. Boy! That 48′ long Bandsaw!!!! Holy molly! It was funny to see them ride it… Really enjoyed it. Thank you.

Jay, For almost thirty two years I taught Boy Scouts how to build snow shelter and then we put it into practice. My last camp-out was on the Pesheke Grade in Michigans Upper peninsula we built igloos and stayed two days. It hit -22 degrees F the second night. I was also an Air Marshal for thew USAF for 10 years during witch time I taught survival skills to many military trainee’s. I always made them practice what we preached. If you want to come to Marquette, Michigan I’m not to old to teach yet ????.
