Day 212, 214 – Driveway Expansion & Seat Time

A few little things add up to a lot. As we leave our drought season and enter our usually wet winter, some much-needed attention needs to be paid to the parking area of the driveway. Concrete washout is my next most excellent find. This stuff is relatively inexpensive and GREAT for driveway base material. I think so, anyway. We don’t have any major slopes to worry about washing away. It packs like clay but isn’t tacky like clay is. The only downside I’ve found is it is pretty dusty in the dry months. But when it’s topped with gravel, the dust is reduced.

We chipped some more of the downed pines and cleaned that area up a bit. I have a feeling this type of work will be sprinkled in a few days per week for the foreseeable future.

My daughter is getting more adventurous with the tractor. She’s very comfortable driving so I introduced some bucket work this week. An easy task of scooping up woodchips and taking them a few hundred feet away. She didn’t get to the point of 100% on her own but she did quite well. And by letting her record me working I realized she has some excitement in that area as well :) Potential film maker in the future?!

You may have noticed the start of the shop build. Day 1 of the shop build was the same day of TK running the tractor. I’ll cover that in the next video.

  1. The first time I drove a tractor was at 5. We lived on a dairy farm in OK, dad was working in the field with a Bulldozer and need the tract also. He set me up to drive it for him to the field. Great life experiences.

  2. She is learning fast. They grow so quickly. Looking forward to seeing the shop and how it is coming along. Hopefully it will be in shapee enough to house your trailer before winter comes on too strongly.

  3. That is probably the best video yet. Your little munchkin is so cute, I probably don’t need to tell you. Im a long time champion, 8/20/21.
