Day 704 – Insulating a Crawlspace. Apartment Build | Part 8

We have now experienced 85° days and 20° nights in the fully insulated apartment. Heating and cooling the space is easy and temperatures are even throughout. In this video, I somehow managed to get decent footage of insulating a dark and small space, I give an update to off camera progress to the apartment, and announce a giveaway wth BEESTUSA.

  1. Jay,
Great job. You make it all look organized and easy. Thank you for sharing ALL of your video’s way back to the “Nesting Chair” build up and construction. I bought the plans & the pattern and have made lots of chairs for family & friends.
    Keep it coming……

  2. Jay,

The reason for venting is to protect the drain traps in your DWV system.. this is to prevent sewer gasses from contaminating your living area. The distance from vent to trap in your system could become a problem.

  3. I’m always impressed with your methodical approach to the challenges and tasks you encounter on your homestead. I was a fan while both of us were in Michigan and remain a fan after retiring in SE Tennessee. I enjoy every episode.

  4. Hi Jay,
A number of manufacturers make a heated mat that is placed on the floor prior to tiling and embedded in the thinset. This can be thermostatically controlled with a timer and can be installed only where you want to keeps your tootsies warm. Do this and you’re bound to get points, especially from the other gender! Keep up the great work!
