Day 790 – Harnessing Resources – Storm Debris to Compost

Earlier this year, we were hit with a devastating ice storm. Close to every tree on our property was damaged in one way or another. Many of which lost limbs.

Last year, we spent some time cleaning up around a row of old-growth walnut trees on our driveway. This year we have to do it again. Native grasses exploded this spring and wrapped up all of the downed limbs.

The game plan is not necessarily to clean up the debris, but rather to create a compost pile from all the resources. The end result will be a cleaned-up area ready for the tractor and rotary cutter to maintain at our leisure.
