How much chainsaw do you really need? For the majority of us who aren’t in the bush every day and don’t use a chainsaw as an extension of their hands, I’d say less than you might think. I’m a big “buy USA” person when I can. But sometimes my budget wins out.
The past two years of running chainsaws routinely on my forest property have really opened my eyes to how capable less expensive saws can be at simply getting the job done. And getting the job done quite well. I got my hands on a Proyama PCS26 almost two years ago, and it has been a reliable workhorse for me. It’s a Chinese clone saw, cloned off of the Zenith brand. Recently, VEVOR asked me to try out one of their saws, the VEVOR CN-26, and I agreed. It is also a Zenith clone. At $118, my expectations were low. After running it through three tough red oak logs that were larger than the bar of the saw, I was surprised at how well it cut. The proof is in the pudding. Check out the video for my full thoughts.
