Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #95 – August 29, 2015

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Paoson Luthier & Woodwork

This is really nice. A multi-function drill press, router, and sanding machine. Really nifty.

AvE

This video has stirred up quite a bit of controversy this past week. A Festool Track Saw TS 55 is being dismantled and looked over. WARNING: The guy has an interesting personality and uses colorful language a few times.

David Marks

You might already know who David Marks is. If not, he’s an amazing woodworker. Check out this beautiful table he made. So much detail.

Henry’s Workshop

Part 4 of the kitchen build. Good video pace and narration. I’m looking forward to the rest of this project.

Make It Extreme

Not woodworking, but interesting. A motorized car jack.

Dutchhorse

A homemade wooden jack plane. This is very interesting. Contrary to the last video I listed this is a very peaceful and relaxing video style. I also like that he gave his thoughts on the plane at the end.

Boris Beaulant

Pretty nifty homemade vise to go inside a vise.

ChuckE2009

This is mostly metal working. Actually there really isn’t any woodworking. Just bolting some boards down. But the completed bench looks great and I really like how simple the design is. ‘

  1. Jay, I really like that video A multi-function drill press, router, and sanding machine! Is there any way to buy a plan for that?
    Thanks, Cam

  2. Enjoy your weekly video’s. Watch them Sat. Mornings with my coffee. Keep up the good interesting content…….Bruce

  3. Jay, I wrote to you some time back saying I had problems with this contribution. I have just tried on my Windows based laptop with no problems at all. I use my iPad most of the time. It seems it is very slow using IOS on my iPad. There is not much you can do about that. Sorry to have troubled you in the first place. Regards.

  4. Thanks Jay, AvE does come across as nuts but has some of the darndest funky verbal formulas and i thoroughly enjoy it. This particular video opened my eyes indeed to the possibility that these Festool products are maybe not pure gold. Although it’s clear that superdooper Allan Little “AskWoodman” is a fan and swears by them, not because they’re expensive or chic, but because he sees real value in the quality. When will you buy your first Festool ? (i do not plan to)
By the way not sure you know, but Festool stemmed from the company FESTO which makes high-tech components and they have the habit of illustrating their use with dreamy creations like a flying inflatable mantaray balloon and such, check ’em out, and keep on trucking !
