Interesting Stuff From Around The Web #255 – August 24, 2019

Every week I like to share a few things I find interesting. Mostly video content with an occasional website article. All of the content you will find in these posts is free to you. Remember that liking, subscribing, or sharing free content goes a long way in helping produce more free content. If you like that creator’s work, share it! Also, thank you to those who send me links through the week when you find something really interesting.

Nothing like a 1930’s logging video to remind us how much times have changed. The cooking routine around the 15 minute mark reminded me how much I love being alive in present time.

Mr. Chickadee

Hand tool workbench made with hand tools. If I had a dollar for every comment that said they want to build my workbench but don’t have all the machines I have…. Great job on this bench Mr. Chickadee.

Planing wood with alternating grain isn’t as impossible as you might think. An extra plane blade and a little geometry knowledge is all you need to get great results on difficult to tame wood.

Brian has been making free woodworking content for longer than I have. This Shoji Lamp is one of my favorites from him. It’s a small project that has a big visual impact. And it doesn’t require a lot of materials. Sounds like a perfect weekend build.

Tom Fidgen

Another relaxing hand tool woodworking video. Making some chair parts with Tom Fidgen of the Unplugged Woodshop. I find it very informative to watch this style of video. You can get a lot of technique and process information just from observing. Sometimes verbal instruction isn’t necessary.

Wood and Shop

I love these videos from Wood and Shop. A very modest, well equipped and lighted shop producing beautiful pieces.

I’m sure most of my audience is familiar with the incredible cutting boards produced by mtmwood. Here’s a look into the growth of his business. Turn on closed captions. I had this video bookmarked for quite some time and while it is from 2018 I had no idea he was producing such a high volume of cutting boards. It’s great to see success :)

the tinywoodworkshop

This completely blows the doors off the “I don’t have a workshop so I can’t make anything” excuse. Holy moly!
