I’m not sure if we will be able to get roots started in the two acre clearing before winter. We still have too many holes and lumps and bumps to start seeding. One improvement we can immediately make, however, is to condense our burning locations into just one location. The perfect location is where our house slab will be. We won’t have any worry about destroying any of the surrounding soil if we keep the burn pile in a location that will never be planted. So we decided to mark out the four corners of our future home. We haven’t settled on an exact size, floor plan, or building method, for that matter, so we just marked off a 60′ x 60′ square. That should give us plenty of space to play with when the time comes to build. Our house will not be that large.
We’ve also been trying to engage the youth in our family to come out to the property, get some fresh air, roam freely, learn new skills, and just have fun! Everyone who comes out has a great time. I let two of Tyler Kay’s cousins drive the tractor and use the grapple. It went well!
