Several months ago Inventables provided me with a free, fully loaded X-Carve CNC machine. Long story short, it’s not for me. A couple months ago I wrote an article telling why it isn’t for me. You can read that here:
Thoughts on my X-Carve CNC Machine
Since then I’ve tried to make it more appealing to me by purchasing both the DeWalt 611 spindle mount and the DeWalt 611 router. It works a heck of a lot better but I just don’t find the process enjoyable. So that means I’d like to put it in the hands of someone who would use it. Because I’ve already wasted a lot of time tinkering with it I have no desire to waste any more time breaking it down, building a shipping crate for it, and taking it to a shipping location. So that means that this giveaway is pickup only, I will not ship this machine. Whoever wins can come out to the shop and hang out for a bit and leave with the X-Carve loaded up in their vehicle. I know this doesn’t appeal to everyone but the situation is what it is. I’ve had several offers to purchase the machine from me but it was given to me for free so I’m not going to sell it based on principle alone.
Terms and conditions:
- The giveaway includes a Fully loaded 1,000mm x 1,000mm X-Carve with both the original spindle and spindle mount that came with it as well as the DW611 spindle mount that I purchased. The DW611 router that I purchased is not included with the giveaway.
- The randomly selected winner will be determined by the Rafflecopter giveaway.
- The giveaway ends at midnight (central time) on December 31st 2015.
- The winner will be announced immediately on this giveaway page so check back on New Years Day for the winner.
- I am located in Starkville Mississippi. I will try to schedule an appropriate pickup time that works for both of us.
- None of your information gathered will be shared or sold. I hate spam just as much as you do.
- By entering the giveaway you agree to these terms and conditions.
Congrats to Anthony Lane for winning the giveaway!
My luck you don’t live down the street and I don’t have a vehicle :(. Well congrats to the lucky person to get it.
Would to have your x carve nachine. Have truck will travel.thanks very much.
Does the pick up have to be in person, or could we arrange to have it picked up by a carrier?
Been saving up for an x carve, but with a new baby, that hasn’t been happening much. Good luck to everyone.
Happy holidays
Where does he live?
Read the last few lines in the article.
Starkville MS
So much I could do with that, but just cannot afford one. Somebody is going to be happy, not me.
Im entered. Would love to win. They are nice machines
I’m right down the road!
I would absolutely LOVE to have this in my new shop I’m about to build!!! I’m just now really getting into woodworking and would definitely like to add this to my collection. I also happen to work at your local home improvement store so pickup would be a breeze!
Very cool. Nice to see some Starkville folks here :)
I am not from Starkville but I live in Memphis and I have been saving for one of these for a while now. I would love to have it so I can work on expanding my woodworking business. I hope push it to the next level but I work another job that has taken a lot of time this past year.
Can you share which state we would need to travel to?
Starkville, MS
Would love it with a a tour of your shop with me son (we watch your videos together).
Many friends that went to MS State. Good school. Would love to have that X-Carve. Good luck to whoever wins.
How can I enter the give away??
There is a Rafflecopter giveaway box in this website article.

Jay I would love this machine I have been saving up for one but its really hard to do when you have a sick spouse. I would so love to have this machine.
I live in Hernando, MS. I’d love to have an X-carve. Hope I’m not too late.
I live 12 hours away and drive that with no problem for the x-carve and a chance to me and spend the day with Jay
Have family 24 miles away that would love to see me.
now that’s a great adventure a fun road trip and hanging with jay
It would be a long trip for this old retired shop teacher from the Coast of Maine. The least I could do would be bring you a couple of lobsters. Of course meeting you would be the highlight of the trip!

How do you register for the giveaway? I went to Rafflecopter and it appears that you must register for rafflecopter instead of the raffle. I would love to have it. I live in Tupelo, MS but I will be out of town on December 31st. I will be leaving tomorrow.
There is a Rafflecopter giveaway box in this website article.
Yo Jay,
Hope the winner isn’t going to sell it on eBay or CraigsList. Sure you thought this possibility, but didn’t need the hassle of enforcing no sale as a condition.
Already have beaucoup ideas for using it.
Happy New Year!
I am entered and like everyone else would love to have it. If I am not the winner congratulations to the winner. I figure that weekend your wife is on drill and that is why 23 January is best. My son is NG but his drills are the first weekend of each month.
If only overseas was not an issue… :)
fingers crossed, road trip!
I would love to have it and I know right where you are due to the fact I’m a Mississippi guy myself
A road trip would be great… I would get there pretty fast being I’m an Atlanta driver :) watch out Jay haha
This is awesome I have been trying to save to buy one but of course family comes first but the ideas are endless good luck to everyone. Jay keep up the good work man we all really enjoy your videos happy holidays.
Would love to have this. Nice road trip as well.
I’m willing to drive a good distance to pick one of those up. Besides I love to drive.
I know I can win, and it will be a long trip from Mexico, but it will be a nice trip and I will bring you and excellent Tequila!!!
This would be the first CNC machine Ive ever used and I already know dozens of projects I would do with it. I hope I win, making the road trip from NY to Mississippi is going to be awesome. I get to tour a state I’m dying to visit, and bring home a machine that I’ll put to good use. Win or not Happy New Year Jay Bates and Family… And Happy New Year to all fellow Wood Workers across America!
I would love to have a machine like that all my life I’ve carved things by hand because we couldn’t afford new tools for the shop me and my wife we do a lot of work for people that can’t afford it that’s what we love to do if we were able to get something like that we can help more people
P.s. we love the video
wow! that would be a cool new toy to play with and i’m not that far from you .
This would absolutely be perfect timing for me. Just getting started in my new fulltime woodworking shop. I have the perfect place, and it would =definitely= get used A LOT. Heck, I even live not too far away (in Baton Rouge, LA) and would really enjoy the chance to come and visit with you for an afternoon.
Found your channel a few months back, and have enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. I am beginning the process of acquiring all the necessary components to build my own CNC.
Found your channel a few months back, and have enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. I am beginning the process of acquiring all the necessary components to build my own CNC. I could certainly use this X-Carve to fabricate some of the components I am designing in Fusion 360. I have been to Starkville a few times to pick up or drop off a UH-72 at the Airbus plant. I will be retiring in a few months after almost 30 years in the Army and could fill my free time using this machine. Thanks for the chance.
Where are you located? And where do I enter ? Lol jk
If my wife wasn’t due in a couple weeks, I’d be willing to suffer the drive from northern NY to come down and meet you and pick it up. Very cool of you Jay, you’re definitely my favorite channel to watch and hope to at least meet you at one of the WWA shows some day. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
I have already routed my trip, Thanks
Would love to come out and meet you! Keep up the great work!
My plane is in for annual inspection and not likely to be out until the end of January but heck, I’ll make the drive! Jay, what do you think the overall dimensions are so I can figure if it’ll fit in my vehicle? Thanks for making this available!
If you have your own plane, why not just buy a CNC machine yourself and let others have the chance?
No often people give tools away. I am like, at least a few, woodworkers not knowing where it would fit in. Familiar with metal CNC machines but for wood I don’t think I could dedicate the sq. footage.
Wow.. I just started following you on YouTube a few weeks ago. I am supersized to see you are in Starkville.. I moved to Columbus 2 yeas ago from Pennsylvania… I love it here in Mississippi. That would be cool if I could win the X-Carve. Keep up the good work you do Jay. And ” Go Dawgs! “
I think I can give it a good home over here in Arkansas.
I’d like to win just to be able to meet up and chat a bit. Keep up the good work with the videos! Happy New Year to you and yours!
I appreciate your ethics, man.
I also appreciate your helpful videos as they have been key to my growing skills.
Wife appreciates the net results as well.
Thanks and have a great New Year.
Ross M
Have truck will travel, I would love to have your machine but above all, it would be great to see you and view your shop live. Thanks very much.
I’m there. May have to leave my son at home, as I probably couldn’t get him to stop shouting Fail State all through Starkville, but I’m there. :)
I not understand you try say I am deaf. Thumb up.
I really need one bad my control box went down i have 3 signs to get done by mid jan but im disabled i could drive down but thats like 800 miles wow wish i was closer soon as i could make the trip would be march late feb your a good man appreciate you doing this stuff for others thanks probly gonna have to pass that up even though could use it bad thanks for chances to get great stuff ;)
and also would have been very cool just to hang out for a bit chat shop stuff lol
I live in Tuscaloosa, Al. so it’s not for from where you live. I can think of many uses for the X Carve. Thanks for giving me a chance to win.
Thank you for the chance to win this machine.
I just bought a DW611 router… (used it for the first time yesterday). And the x-carve would be the perfect add-on :-D and only 6 hours away!
I’m an old fart but would love to learn how to use it
I’m retired so a trip to Mississippi to met you would be a privilege and pleasure. I never miss a video. Thanks for all you do for me and others.
This is amazing! I am in the Starkville area a good bit too… so that would be perfect.
I’ve been wanting one of these to do projects that I can donate to a local organization that ships care packages to the troops overseas. I would love to come down and hang out with you for awhile and swap shop talk.
You’re a good man to give this away rather than sell it. I know most of us probably would love to have one, but just can’t afford it. Hats off to you Jay.
I live in MS too and enjoy your videos especially the sketchup ones.
I click the links, and even though I am signed in, it is not letting me enter the contest. How can I enter with the links not working.
What’s it doing? I just checked on two computers and it’s working fine on my end.
Very cool. I’m a Michigander living in Gerorgia now. I’d make the road trip to pick it up. thanks for the chance.
IF I were to win, I just couldn’t wait to see the miter saw station, when I pick up the tool!! I am a Michigander STILL in Michigan. But would drive down no problem! Go Wings!
IF I win, I’d love to negotiate an alternate prize of that Mississippi box fan that keeps you cool in the summer. I’ve tried to locate one that works in Mobile, AL …. but there must be something different about the Alabama box fan design. I still sweat like heck in August! Thanks for all the tips and inspirations – I’m a loyal follower no matter what.
hahhahahahaha. Try a 18,000 BTU mini split. They work great and pull the humidity out too!
Hey Jay, very cool of you to do this giveaway. I don’t know how I would pick it up but I would find a way. Hope you enjoy time with family. Unplug everything if you can. ThAnks for all your efforts.
Looking foward to meeting you if I am chosen! Texas is a drive but it will be worth it, and it will make a fun road trip!
Making the trip from MN when I win!
We make our annual trek from Det. to FL. every Jan. in the wife’s BMW, if I win, can you imagine how pissed she would be if we made that trip in my 2000 dodge ram work truck. That would be crazy funny. But I would love to have a CNC machine and hang with the one and only Jay “the man” Bates and wax poetically about Matt Stafford and the mighty Detroit Lions.
BTW, what’s the value of that CNC machine ?
hahaha I can see her face now ;) The machine would cost someone about $1250 + shipping the way I’m giving it away.
When the “winner” comes to pick it up; You should video it! (Will you serve them a “Little Ceasar Pizza lunch” ? Since, I respect the “direction of GOOD chacter” that is given by you, consistantly. I designed and replicated the mystery “Red” cube which I call the “Jay Cube” it should be done soon.
Would like to come see your shop and talk for a bit. I would put this CNC machine to use making items to sell to support a charitable foundation my wife and I started in memory of our youngest son Andy. Andy was a victim of a wreck caused by a man that was intoxicated. Andy passed away November 12th, 2010 just 4 months before his 21st birthday. Please visit our website at http://www.andycard.org. We would be glad to send you cards for everyone in your family.
Your friend
Mark Hovis
cool! I applied to State, visited the campus, couldn’t afford it. now I live and work (as a woodworker artist) in Kentucky, that X-carve would be sweet for what I do, and what my fellow woodworker (luthier specifically) does, and if I won it would make my parents really happy seeing as they live in Greenwood, MS and I only go down once or twice a year because of the length of the drive and the cost of the gas.
I reckon I’d have to break it down a bit to fit in my car, but I went to tech school (Holmes Community, Grenada) for a few years, so I reckon I’d be up to the task :P
Jay I would enjoy the cnc machine I have always been interest in the cnc field. Hope to win the machine, would enjoy coming and meeting with you.
I could not find the link for the contest , I would love in contest I am in ILL. but i would make the trip if i were to win.
Well I entered. I’ve always wanted to try a CNC I guess it would be very worth the 10 hour drive. Thanks for the opportunity Jay.
Thank you for the opportunity to obtain such an awesome piece of machinery to add to my new basement shop.
When I was making a bunch of dew drop ornaments as Nutcracker favors I was thinking how much a CNC would be awesome.
Your ethics are admirable, does the giveaway annoy the mfg. Anyhow, thanks for the chance at a great freeby
Heck yea! I’d be up for a road trip!
Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great tool. I have been saving for one for a while now. Im located in WI but with the money saved i can make the trip to you. Hope to meet you in person and keep up the great youtube videos.
Hi there!
Would love the chance to get something like this. I’m located quite awhile away, but could certainly make the trip. Thanks for the opportunity, and best wishes for the new year!
Your work has helped me several ways. I used your chest plans several times. I bought some your plans too and I need to talk to you about how keep your business going with advertising. I would love to see your shop some day
I appreciate your work. I’d gladly drive to Mississippi from Georgia to grab it. Favorite beer?

Hey, this is Anthony on Brian Armas’ account. Please let Brian have it because he’s awesome and I’m a swell guy. Oh, and because he travels to Starkville often. :D
Hey JAY!! So my account got hacked and I am working to get things fixed up so I can email you! I tweeted you also, just to let you know that I am alive, lol.
